We started out today with a discussion board about where we find wisdom. Make sure that you list ONE place or person where you find wisdom. Read your classmates, and rate them on how helpful they are.

WE then read the Article Bible as Literature and and answered the Discussion Board questions: Bible as Literature. Only three questions – pretty simple.

As of right now, 7 students would take a Bible as Literature class here at Vistas; * would pass it. Pair has two votes to teach the class, Schinderling has 1 vote to teach it, Riley has1 vote, and Gonzalez has one vote.

We read the King James Background. Get the notes from a classmate.

We read Ecclesiastes  3:1 and listened to the song Turn, Turn, Turn. Get the notes from a classmate.

IV – 11/9/2012

Riley gave us the entire class period to work with our partner to write the Partner Poem – There needs to be two poems with six stanzas each and a rhyme scheme of AABB, like The Passionate Shepherd and The Nymph’s Reply.

III – 11/9/2012

We read “Hills like White Elephants” – Riley read the narrator, Carol read as the girl – “Jig”, and Dean read as the American.

The class was a little lost during the first read through, but after a discussion, we figured it out.

We watched a video based on the story, and for some people, it helped clarify some things, but for others, it just confused them.

Again, we had a discussion and cleared things up.

We ended the day with the OER question over the story regarding selfishness and worked a bit more on the foldable from yesterday.

IV – 11/8/2012

Did you guys know that Riley hates Bruno Mars’ song Grenade? She does.

She compared it to the poem “The Passionate Shepherd” get the notes from a  classmate.

Then we read “The Nymph’s Reply” – get the notes from a classmate.

We then partnered up and started the Come Hither, Go Away Pre-Writing. When youa re done, show it to Riley so she can give you credit for drafting.

IV – 11/5/2012

Riley forced us to listen to Time by Pink Floyd. It’s a LONG song – it’s not the radio edited version. There is a reason for this – make sure you listen to all of it, even the parts that seem meaningless. There is a meaning for all ot, and it all relates to CARPE DIEM.

When you answer the questions, make sure you answer them fully. Don’t just skim through them and rush throughthe questions. Historically, people who do that don’t score well on the test. Don’t skip a question – that automatically kills your grade.

You can listen to the song as many times as you want when you take the test and use the lyrics to help you answer the test. You can use whatever you need (OneNote, song, lyrics) on the test.
