TAKS TESTS ARE OVER!

Today, 1st and 2nd met and worked on the sources/research.

Gradespeed is not working correctly, so rather than grade everything and lose grades (it happened in first block!), Riley is waiting until the problem is corrected.

Please check your grades regardless of what class you are in – we don’t know when this problem started and you may have a zero for an assignment that has actually been graded. Be proactive!

We finished the quests from King Arthur’s wedding and read about Merlin’s death- pages 95-111.

Then, we did a circle foldable that Riley is calling the Round Table. Cut them out. The cover will be the one that looks like Pac-Man and the divided one is where you will write your sentences.

•Cover – Illustrate the three quests (make sure your name is on it)
•3 sentences summarizing The Wedding – 85-91
•3 sentences summarizing Gawain’s quest -91-95
•3 sentences summarizing Torre’s quest – 95-100
•3 sentences summarizing Pellinore’s quest – 100-105

Make sure you are still working on the research – that is due on Friday!

Ahoy, mateys!

We read 85-95 about Arthur’s wedding. After that, Riley gave the class instructions over the Arthurian interview. The example and the instructions are in LMS, but here are a few hints:

  • You have to research before you write the script.
  • You can use the questions provided to help you

Print your sources to OneNote (or wherever – just don’t waste paper) and I’d suggest highlighting the answers and other interesting information.

Once you get the information done, you will turn that information and start writing your script. Write this as if your character is on a talk show – you can choose the talk show and the host. Riley used Ellen DeGeneres as her host, but you can choose someone else.

Write the script with the host asking questions and making comments, and during the conversations, the facts that you researched will be be discussed.

Make sure you that show voice in your script – if you want an example, look at Riley’s example (Greek god) in LMS.

If you have questions, post away here!

Today – do the 3-2-1 Summarizer.

3 archetypes

2 vocabulary words

1 quote – find the best piece of advice Merlin gave Arthur from pages 39-54 and explain why you like it.

When you are done with this, work on your poster from yesterday – Wanted or Statue poster. I have templates you can use, you can recycle posterboard, or make a digital poster.

Check your grades! Turn work in!

Today, we a good chunk: pages 39-54. It is FULL of drama, incest, fighting, and dishonor. Yep, yep.

After that, we did a MYSTERY ASSIGNMENT. Whooooooo. You can do this either by yourself or with a partner. You can do the Mystery Assignment (whoooooooo) on the computer, on paper, on construction paper, or even on posterboard. Your choice.

We sneezed today (Bless You!) about qualities that we would want our boss to have.

Then, we read from pages 12-22. It didn’t take that long, and after we finished reading, we did the Pro/Con Foldable in LMS. There are four slides where you go over the reasons Arthur SHOULD be king (pros)  and reasons why Arthur should NOT be king (cons) and finally, the last slide is your opinion on whether Arthur should be king or not.

Today, we did an anticipation guide for “The Acts of King Arthur and His Noble Knights” by reading ten statements and then holding up a sign with whether we agreed or disagreed with them. A few times we got into it – except in second block. Second Block just stared and would really talk. BOR-ING.

We started reading The Acts of King Arthur and His Noble Knights (pages 7-12). It’s pretty easy to read, so if you missed it, it’s not confusing at all.

After we read, did a One Pager. The one pager instructions (and a sample) are in LMS.

Basically, you are going to create a poster (can be on Powerpoint, on paper, or whatever you wish) with the following items:

  • a picture/clip art in the center of the poster
  • four brainstorms
  • the two most important quotes from pages 7-12 (cited correctly)
  • 2 thought-provoking questions
  • 2 answers to those questions
  • 1 personal connection

If you do this on paper, make sure that you turn it in the Old School Dropbox and leave a message in the LMS dropbox.
