IV – 8/31/2012

Since our ship was destroyed by the dragon, we decided to hitch a ride with some Vikings back to Sweden to meet their King – Beowulf. Supposedly, he’s pretty generous and might even give us a ship!

So, on our way to travel to Sweden, we learn a little about this king. WE hear that he is EPIC. Epic? EPIC? What does that mean? I guess we better figure this out before we meet him.

We watched “the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny” and made of  list of of the hard core people and hard core things they did.

THIS WAS EPIC!

To drive home the point, we then highlighted notes from the textbook – called Epic Hero.

We then chose an epic hero from tv, movies, or from real life and filled in the blanks about him/her. Make sure you draw an object in the hand!

Lastly, we wrote an acrostic poem on the back of the Epic Dude that describes elements of an epic poem. Make sure that this information comes from textbook highlights and not over your specific hero. GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS.

III – 8/31/2012

Today, we took the DISC personality Quiz. You could have been a D, an I, an S, or a C.

Then, we looked at our personality profile based on our astrological sign.

On both, we were to annotate and highlight: one color to represent the characteristics that describe us, and the other color to highlight those characteristics which *aren’t* you.

We then did a discussion board in LMS, and we commented on two other people’s posts.

Monday, we are going to write a personality analysis paper. Be ready!

IV – 8/30/2012

We went back to our Peanut Butter Jelly groups today and group taught the rest of our members what we learned.

We also did a Gallery Walk – one member of the group stayed with the poster and the other members rotated to hear the other group posters. While they were hearing, they completed a Word Storm with important words.

At the end of class, we compiled all the important vocabulary words together.

We also went out the map of the British Isles and talked about the United Kingdom, the two islands, and the five countries. I for Ireland!

III – 8/30/2012

Today, we took our color quiz answers (from Tuesday) and we created a poster with them. There is a template in LMS with circle text boxes Each text box has a sentence prompt. First, change the color of each circle to the corresponding color from the quiz. You will use your color quiz to answer those questions. You do not need to write down each answer – choose about three words. You can use synonyms – in face, I recommend it.

Once you get the fild done, drop it off, I will print it in color for you, and then we will cut and paste the circles on a poster with our name on it. Make your name POP!
