Thursday! That means tomorrow is Friday! Only two more weeks until Thanksgiving break! I can handle that!

All grades (and the level chart) have been updated as of this morning. Please make sure that you are checking your Gradespeed grade against the Blackboard grade. I have been transferring grades by hand, so it’s very easy for me to make mistakes. If(when) you find a mistake, write down the mistake and the XP received on a Post-It note and leave it on the Parking Lot.All requests and concerns must be in writing, otherwise I won’t address them.

Powder Monkey

There should be *no* excuse for not having a passing grade on Grade Check Monday since you have had 2-3 days to work on your assignments.

Right now, Lil’ Juan is a Level 2 Powder Monkey. These are the crew members who are also Powder Monkeys!

As of 1:29 today, all grades are accurate and updated. If you are missing something, turn it in. If there is a MISTAKE, explain it on a post-it note and leave it in the Parking Lot. You must submit these things in writing to me.

As we near the end of our Carpe Diem unit, we are going to watch Dead Poet’s Society. This movie will last today and tomorrow, so make sure you use your time wisely. If you are working on assignments, make sure that you read the summary from Wikipedia because there will be final exam questions over this movie.

The “Timed” test and the Obituary will both be due tomorrow. That means if you turn either of these things in Friday, there will be points deducted from your score (whatever you score out of 150 points). Remember, that’s going to be -5 points each day late. So if you earn 130 points and turn the paper in 2 days late, that will be -10 points for a final grade of 120 points. Easy? Easy.

Your grades should be updated and accurate in BB after today. While you guys are working (and the movie is playing), I am transferring grades from BB to Gradespeed since my computer does not work at home. IT is working on the issue, so I hope it will be resolved soon. 🙂

Today was the promised and greatly anticipated “Shut Up and Work Day.” 🙂

This is supposed to be JK Rowling. If you don’t do your work, she will haunt your computer.

 

Lots of you are missing work – some are still missing the Minos Project, and it was technically due a week ago.

This is your day to choose what to work on.

I probably won’t be here on Monday, so I also explained the instructions for the Set Up: Crazy Advice and also Crazy Advice. Even if I’m not here Monday, I STILL EXPECT THIS TO BE TURNED IN ON TIME.

I’ll make a post to explain again for Monday.

Some hints for working on the project today:

  • If you need me to print anything in color, drop it off in the drop box
  • I find it helpful to use manipulatives when making the seating chart
  • Don’t wait until next week to write down your rationale – you don’t want to get back to class on Friday only to realize that you forgot all the reasons why you placed The Knight next to the Parson.
  • Look at the example assignments for ideas
  • You can use whatever technology that you want – Word, PowerPoint, Inspiration, Paint, etc.
  • REMEMBER:WHEN WRITING YOUR RATIONALE make sure you that you varied sentences with good transitions. I don’t want each explanation to sound exactly like the one before it. BORING.
