Today, we took the story from The Miller’s tale and wrote a Jerry Springer script based on the story. You can throw in your own interpretation of it (does John *really* know what happened, or is Allison coming on the show to confess?)

We watched a few Jerry Spring clips and these are things that we noticed:

  • JER-RY chant
  • Jerry is a bit is a smart “mouth”
  • The audience chants FIGHT
  • There are surprise guests
  • There are weddings and/or special events
  • There are bouncers (Steve)
  • People throw chairs in the fights
  • Introduction
  • Show starts with one guest and then more come out
  • The audience interacts
  • Jerry’s final thoughts

These are things you need to have in your script:

  • An introduction by Jerry Springer
  • All four Miller’s Tale characters speak
  • The audience interacts
  • The audience has a Q&A time
  • Jerry’s final thoughts teach a lesson, moral, or a lesson – could be about infidelity/cheating or age differences between couples
  • It needs to be written in script format
  • There needs to be stage directions

If you go to Blackboard, there is an example from Shakespeare’s play, Hamlet.
