Today, we just worked on our Wacky King Arthur project. If today is your first day working on this project, I’d suggest NOT working on the Action Figure unless you want to do some homework – it takes a bit longer than the other projects.

So. Yeah. A few things I’ve noticed from yesterday:

  • Make sure that you are getting facts from the Shmoop page about the characters – if you use other sites for research as well, that’s even better!
  • You can’t just use the small snippets of the story and expect to get a good grade – we’ve only read teeny, tiny parts of the story – that’s why you have to RESEARCH.

If you need something printed in color, drop it off so I can print it for you.

Make sure you are using your time wisely! Thursday is the last class day I have allocated for this, and the entire project is due on Friday!

If you finish with your final copy (that’s ready to be published on Friday), then you can work on this, but just know that there are things that we HAVE to do Friday before you can finish King Arthur.

Check out what Areli did today!

Great job!

Here are few examples that students did last year from a different research project, but I posted them so you could get some ideas for how to make yours:

20140305_131405[1]If you look at this one, you can see that Cynthia actually put the times in the box with her author.

So, you can also put objects in your box as well.20140305_131431[1]

Rolley, over on the right, used a toilet paper tube for his Action Figure. You can do the same thing! I also have other things you can use – think about cups or water bottles.

Remember, the instructions are in BB in Arthurian Legend under the Wacky King Arthur folder.

I’ve just seen a few people who spent the past two days working on LATE work. That means you are two days behind for THIS project.

We have 1o class days left until final exams!

Happy Mardi Gras! Joyous Mardi Gras? Have a calm, relaxed Mardi Gras? I don’t know, I jsut know I got to wear jeans today! Whoo hoo!

Just take a look at this good looking float right here:

20140304_142702[1]That’s a bit blurry. Let’s check it out in detail.

20140304_142837[1]Yeah. That’s one good looking float.

So, this is our schedule for the next few days. Remember – we only have 11 days until we start taking finals. 11 class days! If you are still failing, you need to make sure that you get it together – we don’t have time for you to be rushing around doing late work at the end.

20140304_142537[1]If you are going to the museum over Spring Break, I have coupons for you! We just need to put my name on the coupon so they know you are with me. 🙂

Today, we started the Wacky King Arthur Research Project. Just have to do 150 points of activitites, but you can do as much as 200 points. Just go to the correct folder in KA and you can read about each individual project.

I got all assignments from this nifty little book right here:

20140304_140121[1]So yes, you will have to do some RESEARCH for this. You can’t base all of your facts off of the material that we read in class. Use Shmoop to help you out. You can use other sites, just make sure that you are looking up Le’ Morte D’Arthur so you don’t get other stories.

If you are doing the Action Figure, I have examples from past projects for you to look at and I have boxes that you can decorate and fold.

3/3/2014

We are now in a mad rush to get things finished before the end of the term. We have lost 2 days because of inclement weather, and we’ve also lost 2 days because people didn’t do the work I left for them when we had a sub. 🙁

The schedule for the next three weeks are on the board.

AshleyToday, we took our memoir and for each sentence, wrote down the subject and verb for each sentence. Turn this in for a grade. What I expect you to do with this information is use it to look for run on sentences, fragments, subject/verb agreement, and verb tense. I’ve noticed that we have lots of students who have run-ons and keep switching verb tense. If you notice that you have multiple subject and verbs in a sentence, check it out to see if it’s a run-on! When you look at your verbs, check to make sure they are all past tense. If you see something wrong, FIX IT ON YOUR PAPER.

People are making changes INDEPENDENT of their paper! What’s the point in writing three introductions if you don’t use them? What’ the point of finding your “be” verbs if you don’t change half of them? Make the revisions and edits to the paper!

Lastly, record yourself reading your essay in Audacity. This is an editing tool. This isn’t so I can listen to you read out loud – it’s so you can identify mistakes. If you stumble while you are reading, it’s probably because there is a grammatical audacitymistake. I don’t care if you make a mistake while reading – THAT’S THE POINT OF THE ACTIVITY – to identify where your mistakes are!

The two grades are finding the subject(s) and verb(s) for each sentence and recording you reciting your essay.

We will work on our King Arthur Major grade for three days, and we will publish the Memoir on Friday! Hooray!
